The debate, hosted by ABC News in Philadelphia, was the first — and possibly only — meeting between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

Harris spent the majority of the debate looking directly at her opponent, often smirking, laughing out loud, or shaking her head incredulously while he answered questions. The split screen showed Trump staring mostly straight ahead as she spoke, while occasionally shaking his head.

Lack of debate prep follows a string of other errors by the former president, and No5 is the most consequential, says top pollster.
