Apple has refreshed the Apple Watch Ultra 2 with a new “satin black” color option and sleep apnea detection feature, the company announced at its September event today. It’s the first time Apple has offered the Watch Ultra in more than one color since it launched two years ago.

PRE-ORDER NOW: Apple announced a black version of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 at its Glowtime event on Sept. 9. It officially comes out on Sept. 20, but you can pre-order it now for $799. No, Apple isn't discontinuing the Apple Watch Ultra — but it's not giving us the Apple Watch Ultra 3 yet, either.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is highly capable smartwatch when it comes to communication, productivity, activity, and safety. Some of the biggest selling points for me is that the battery life can last about two full days, the 3,000-nit display is a breeze to see in sunny conditions, and the 86-decibel safety siren offers major peace of mind.

It makes absolutely no logical sense to buy the black Ultra 2 — especially if you already have one. Yet, not every purchase has to be made with your brain. Sometimes, and only if it causes no harm, you can buy something simply because it’s fun.
